Why I put my Spanglish in people's faces 🇲🇽

✨Too busy to read today? Jump to the bottom for the speedy rundown.✨

Reader,

When I was dipping my toes into the copywriting world, I made sure my Spanglish was in people's faces...

📍LinkedIn? Ya sabes.

📍Instagram? You know it.

📍Website? Por supuesto (of course).

Why?

Because I wanted you to know how much I value my cultural upbringing.

Does it mean I cater only to Spanish speakers?

Nope.

I simply feel proud of my roots and want to share it with the world.

But...

It does lead to similar questions - just like the above.

Like:

"Tell me about your experience with multicultural marketing..."

Every time I get a question around these lines, I freeze.

Something about the question feels... off.

It was like being asked, "So, how do you market to 'those people'?" as if my comunidad was some exotic specimen to study.

After some reflection, I thought, "This is backwards thinking. Culture isn't something 'others' have. Everyone operates from cultural perspectives..."

That statement changed up how I approach marketing.

See, here's where most marketers get hung up:

They treat "multicultural" as a special category, a checkbox, or a separate marketing initiative.

The truth?

EVERYONE has cultural context that shapes how they see the world.

Google "culture" y vas a ver (you'll see)!

The dominant culture doesn't see itself as having "culture" – it sees itself as "normal" and everything else as "cultural" or "ethnic" or "multicultural."

This backwards thinking creates three major problems in your marketing:

1️⃣ It creates artificial divisions

When you label certain audiences as “multicultural,” you’re saying there’s a “normal” default audience and then “other” audiences with cultura.

La realidad?

Your white, English-speaking clients have just as much cultural context shaping their decisions as anyone else.

2️⃣ It leads to surface-level representation

This backwards thinking often gets into tokenism – adding a diverse face to marketing materials without actually understanding the cultural nuances that drive connection.

Real cultural intelligence is more than checking off boxes.

As a business owner, you need to understand the deep values, communication styles, and decision-making factors across different groups.

3️⃣ It keeps you from your own authentic voice

Here’s the biggest problem: when you think of “multicultural marketing” as something separate, you often end up code-switching or trying to appeal to what you think resonates rather than connecting from your authentic cultural perspective.

Want a platform for long-term success?

Speak from your true cultural voice to connect with others who share or appreciate those values.

💡 Here’s what this means for you:

Instead of asking “How do I reach multicultural audiences?” flip the script and ask:

“How can my unique cultural perspective enrich my marketing for ALL of my clients?”

Your cultural story isn’t something to minimize when talking to “mainstream” audiences.

It’s the exact thing that will set you apart.

When you shift from thinking about “multicultural clients” to recognizing that ALL marketing is cultural, you:

✅ Create more authentic connections

✅ Stand out in a sea of generic messaging

✅ Attract clients who value your unique perspective

✅ Build a brand that can’t be replicated by anyone else

This is exactly the approach I bring to all my copywriting services.

I’ve noticed something after working with dozens of purpose-driven leaders:

Many of you are showing up consistently with amazing content… pero the sales feel inconsistent.

That’s not because your offers aren’t valuable.

It’s because most of your audience simply doesn’t understand:

1. Exactly what you’re offering

2. How it would transform their specific situation

3. The clear next step to work with you

Whether you need:

📧 Email sequences that nurture AND convert

💻 Website copy that truly sounds like you

📄 Sales pages that tell your story in a way that sells

The key is bringing your authentic cultural perspective forward, not hiding it.

✨

I currently have availability for new projects starting in May/June

If you’re tired of marketing that doesn’t sound like you OR doesn’t convert like it should, let’s talk about how we can fix that.

Stop thinking of "multicultural" as a special category - everyone has cultural context that shapes how they see the world.

When you embrace your authentic cultural perspective in your marketing, you create deeper connections with ALL clients, not just those who share your background.

Your cultural story isn't something to minimize or hide - it's your strength that helps you stand out in a sea of generic messaging.
